It has been another busy year for the March on Stress team!
March on Stress Director, Professor Neil Greenberg, was appointed as an Expert Adviser for the NICE Centre for Guidelines in November 2019.
NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) provides national guidance and advice to improve health and social care. Read more here.
The first study into StRaW was published in the Workplace Health & Safety Journal in September – with results showing positive effects for mental health in the workplace. You can access the paper here.
StRaW (Sustaining Resilience at Work) is our peer support system designed to detect and prevent occupational mental health issues and boost an organisation’s psychological resilience.
Heathrow Airport’s Katherine Compton wrote about their implementation of StRaW, as well the other workplace health and wellbeing work that Heathrow Airport have been undertaking, in IOSH magazine in October. The article is a great read on an organisation’s approach to supporting people in the workplace. You can find it here
New trauma advice was published for the Civil Service in October. ‘Managing Work-Related Trauma’ gives practical guidance for frontline, operational and specialist teams on how to operate in potentially traumatic work environments and manage the emotions that follow. Read more here.
We have lots of training coming up in the new year! Here is a lowdown of our upcoming courses, with further dates to be added after the Spring.
You can book online here

There was great news for the hard-working Welsh Ambulance TRiM team, when they picked up a prestigious award this year for their TRiM work. At the NHS Wales Awards in September their TRiM service was recognised with the award for ‘Enriching the wellbeing, capability and engagement of the health and care workforce’. Huge congratulations to all the team involved, it is always wonderful to hear how much TRiM is making a difference in organisations. Read more about the award here.
Professor Neil Greenberg contributed to informative new mental health videos for the Australian insurance organisation, icare, as part of their development of a new Social Connections Toolkit.
Take a look at the toolkit here, where you can watch Neil talk about his five tips for resilience, the importance of peer support and benefits of social connections.
We are delighted to have delivered a successful Train the Trainer programme to the prison service this year. HMPPS now has four TRiM Practitioner Trainers who are delivering TRiM Practitioner training throughout the prison service.
Train the trainer works best for organisations looking to train significant numbers of Practitioners (75 plus), contact us for more details about introducing ‘Train the Trainer’ to your organisation.
Please note we will operate with reduced staffing between Christmas Eve and Monday 6th January 2020, with the office closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. If you need us during this time, please email info@marchonstress.com and we will respond as soon as we can.
