A new review has been published looking at seafarers mental health and wellbeing during the Covid-19 pandemic.
March on Stress Managing Director, Professor Neil Greenberg is a member of the Human Rights at Sea (HRAS) Advisory Board, providing expert advice to the main HRAS Board. He worked with Dr Samantha Brooks, senior researcher at King’s College London, to carry out a scoping review of 14 papers concerning the mental health of workers within maritime organisations during the pandemic.
Professor Greenberg said: “I am delighted the results of this scoping review are now published. This publication will allow maritime organisations to use the learning from the COVID-19 pandemic to prepare to better support the mental health of seafarers during any future prolonged crisis. It is important to the global economy that merchant vessels can continue to support trade between nations even in the midst of a crisis and effective seafaring requires crew members to have a good state of mental health.”
