March on Stress signs Railway Mental Health Charter

Added on the 21st July 2023

March on Stress is delighted to have signed the Railway Mental Health Charter.

The Railway Mental Health Charter (RMHC) was set up by representatives from Southeastern Railway and the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) and is open to rail companies or companies working in the rail industry.

The RMHC aims to:

  • provide the rail industry with a simple, yet robust, framework to protect, promote and support the mental wellbeing of their employees.
  • support the rail industry in creating an open and inclusive culture where all colleagues are empowered to ask for support.
  • facilitate access to good practice.

March on Stress Business Development Director, Georgina Godden, said: “We are really pleased to have signed the Charter and totally support the development of this initiative and its aims – many organisations have good intentions when it comes to supporting the mental health of their staff but strategies like this, and the actions and investment that underpins them, really can make a difference.

“We have worked with different rail companies for a number of years to help them support their people, particularly with evidence-based peer support programmes TRiM (trauma risk management) and StRaW® (Sustaining Resilience at Work). Through the charter we will be glad to, not only continue that work, but also offer our experts’ advice when appropriate.”
