New from SOM – buyers’ guide for wellbeing products and services

Added on the 27th September 2024

March on Stress has welcomed a new guide to buying wellbeing products or services, that has been launched by the Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM).

The guide aims to provide those responsible for purchasing wellbeing products or services – including mental health support and training – with evidence-based frameworks to make informed and effective decisions and make sure there are no unintended consequences for workers.

March on Stress Business Development Director, Georgina Godden, said: “The new guide is a must-have tool for occupational health and wellbeing professionals or anyone responsible for buying support services for their people. SOM has done an excellent job in pulling this together and we urge all of our clients and prospective clients to read it.

“At March on Stress, you will constantly hear us talk about the fact that our services are all based on the very latest evidence and research into what works. This is so important to us and, ultimately, ensures that people within our client organisations are effectively supported.

“This SOM guide supports this view and helps organisations looking for wellbeing products and services to discern what they might need, how to evaluate the evidence base and what questions to ask potential providers. I am proud that, at March on Stress, answering these questions, as well as much of the advice contained within the guide, is something that is already built into everything we say and do.”

Our leading products – including TRiM, StRaW®, REACTMH®, Enhanced Coping Skills and Clinical Services – fit into the NESTA levels of evidence outlined in the guidance.

Georgina continued: “We are proud that our services are backed by such a wealth of evidence – some achieving 4 and 5 on the NESTA scale - but continue to strive to keep developing. Within the guide, SOM encourages organisations to take part in research projects and we do the same.

“At March on Stress we are lucky that our Managing Director, Professor Neil Greenberg, remains at the forefront of evidence and research in his role at King’s College London, with his knowledge and research keeping our services bang up to date.

“Neil was one of a number of experts who contributed to the SOM guidance and we are delighted that he is the President Elect of SOM.”
