It has been a busy period for March on Stress Operations Manager, Dr Zoé Brooke, who played an important part in several notable Remembrance events.
Outside of March on Stress, Zoé is a member of FANY(PRVC) (First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (Princess Royal’s Volunteer Corps)).
Remembrance season is an important time for the voluntary organisation, given the group’s involvement in both World Wars.
Zoé supported four key events in 2024 - London Poppy Day, the Special Operations Executive (SOE) Wreath Laying Service at Westminster Abbey, Lord Mayor’s Show and the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph.
The Royal British Legion (RBL) London Poppy Day mobilises uniformed personnel from the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force, along with veterans, volunteers, and supporters to collect for the RBL Poppy Appeal. This year 50 members of FANY(PRVC) took part, collecting at 3 major rail stations across the day. As well as taking part in collections on the day, Zoé had responsibility for organising and overseeing her FANY(PRVC) colleagues – quite the logistical feat!
Additionally, valued March on Stress Associate trainer Tony Ramskill was heavily involved in the RBL Poppy Appeal in his area of Kent.
Next up for Zoé was the Special Operations Executive (SOE) Wreath Laying Service at Westminster Abbey. One major contribution by FANY(PRVC) to the work of the SOE was in communications, in both signals and cipher departments. Another major contribution was the agents in the field, 39 of the 50 women sent into France were members of FANY(PRVC), including Zoé’s great-aunt.
At the Lord Mayor’s Show, Zoé and colleagues joined the parade which celebrated the 696th Lord Mayor of London. They have very close links with the City of London as this is where several key supporters and main modern day operational supports are based. In recognition of this, FANY(PRVC) has been awarded Privileged Status Regiment of the City of London.
Finally, Zoé was part of the marching squad at the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, representing both the current members of the Corps and all those who have gone before - and she had the honour of carrying the FANY wreath. Although they didn’t realise at the time, Tony Ramskill was also in the march past at the Cenotaph with HMS Blake Association.
In her day job at March on Stress, Zoé is a key part of the Operations team, helping to develop, shape and deliver expert training and provide support to our clients.
